As mentioned in class last week, I went glassblowing at East Falls and was able to learn various techniques to make glass pieces such as holiday ornaments, bowls, cups, and even roses. I feel like glassblowing is an art form that is often overlooked and definitely not one that you would really get the chance to experience, so I’d highly recommend anyone to check this place in Philly out if you ever get the chance. Once you get the basic techniques down the pieces you can make with glass are virtually limitless. One of the instructors there made a glass horse within seconds and another effortlessly crafted a vase for the glass roses she was teaching us how to make.
Definitely one of the cooler experiences I’ve had this year (and worth the burnt fingers)!
