contre temps

I was browsing through a bunch of animated shorts because there are so many great ones out there, and I stumbled upon one I really wanted to share! “Contre temps” is a beautiful short film about a man who obsesses over collecting clocks and keeping time in a city that constantly floods. The animation is breathtaking! There are a lot of moments in the film that let you really take in the space that the animators have created. You can tell they’ve put a lot of thought into the creation of an altogether new world and portraying that to the audience in a way that lets you fall into it easily (which is one of my favorite things–the feeling of bewonderment at the beauty and intricacies of a fantasy space/new world e.g. SanFranSokyo in Big Hero 6, the flooded town in Ponyo, the giant moving castle in Howl’s Moving Castle).
